Year 8

As students progress from Year 7 to Year 8, they continue to build on the three skills introduced in Year 7. The Year 8 curriculum covers fiction and non-fiction writing; reading tasks, based on a text studied in class, and speaking and listening activities which encourage the students to practise their public speaking and develop the correct use of Standard English in a variety of contexts. Year 8 students are also the focus of the Poetry Cafe Speaking and Listening assessment - students are tasked with writing, re-drafting, and performing their own poetry.
