Our mission statement:
Park Lane International school follows an internationally adapted form of the National Curriculum for England and Wales from Year 7 to Year 9 (Key Stage 3). Key Stage 3 students have six, 45 minute periods of English per week. This changes in Years 10 and 11 (Key Stage 4), where the students, who study the Cambridge IGCSE programme, have five, 45 minute lessons of English per week. Both the English Language and English Literature courses will be covered during the students' studies in Key Stage 4. After Key Stage 4, in Years 12 and 13 (Key Stage 5), students continue their Language A studies at IB level.
English is a skills-based subject. The skill areas covered during First Language English study at Park Lane are Reading, Writing, Speaking and Listening. Our aim is that by the end of our students' English education, they will have developed these skills to the extent where they have evolved into sophisticated readers, recognising and analysing the conventions and language that are apparent in specific types of texts; confident writers, who are capable of creating engaging pieces for a variety of text types; and eloquent and effective speakers, who use the constructions of standard English with ease and speak with appropriate register.
We are delighted to inform the school community about the Cambridge IGCSE exam results of our current Year 12 students (the graduating Class of 2021) who have now started their IB Diploma courses. Well done to each and every student!
